Every piece of solid wood first passes through a planer: it gives a flat reference surface and uniform thickness, only then comes everything else. Felder DUAL 51 is a professional combined planer for large widths — surfaces up to 510 mm and thickness-planes up to 504 mm.

This machine is 2024 vintage with a 7.3 kW motor. The spiral head Silent-POWER with 77 knives planes quietly and leaves a smooth surface, the thicknesser table is adjusted electrically via the Power-Drive D1 system, and feed is variable from 4 to 16 m/min. The two surfacing tables together measure 2250 mm, giving long workpieces proper support.
